Building the First Full Family Office Operating System

MyFO

MYFO started with a problem our founder, Simran Kang, knew firsthand.

‍

Simran spent over a decade at PwC advising ultra-high-net-worth families. Across that work, she saw the same challenge again and again: family wealth information was fragmented. Tax planning, governance, investments and strategy often lived in different systems, with families relying on emails, spreadsheets and disconnected tools to piece everything together.

‍

The families she worked with needed fast, reliable information they could act on. But much of the software available to them had been built for advisors and accountants, then adapted for family offices. Implementation could take 12 to 18 months, making it difficult for families to get up and running quickly.

‍

In 2019, Simran set out to build something different. MYFO launched around a simple idea: family offices needed technology designed around how they actually manage wealth.

‍

‍

Built Around How Families Actually Operate

‍

Before launch, the MYFO team interviewed more than 300 family offices and advisors to understand what they actually needed from their technology. The goal was to build something that was neither overly complicated nor too limited, but suited to the complexity of real family wealth.

‍

That meant starting with the family’s structure.

‍

Entity management is central to MYFO. The platform models the trusts, holding companies and partnerships where wealth actually sits, then connects everything else to them: public and private investments, operating businesses, real estate, documents and cash flow forecasts.

‍

It also gives different stakeholders the right level of access. Granular permissions allow family members, advisors and other stakeholders to see the information relevant to them. Families can also bring the next generation into the platform gradually, with access that can evolve as their involvement grows.

‍

Underneath it all, MYFO focuses on creating a reliable record of the family’s financial data. Families can connect through direct custodial feeds, open banking or statement uploads, while MYFO reconciles information into a single, connected view. Onboarding takes weeks, not months or years.

‍

‍

From a Family Office Problem to a Growing Platform

‍

Today, MYFO is based in Vancouver and works with family offices, advisors and institutions across North America.

‍

Since launching, MYFO has continued to expand both its platform and its reach. In 2024, the company raised a US$3.5 million seed round led by Rhino Ventures. Its approach to wealth technology has also earned recognition across the industry, including two wins at the 2025 Family Wealth Report Awards for Client Driven Innovation and Implementation of a Technology Solution / Best Tech Stack.

‍

That recognition has continued with awards from WealthBriefing Wealth for Good, The Netty Awards, Fintech is Femme, CIX Elevate and the Product Awards. Simran was also named Female Executive (Americas) by WealthBriefing Wealth for Good, and MYFO has been featured twice on Forbes’ family office software list.

‍

But recognition is only part of the story. The goal remains the same one that led to MYFO’s creation: giving families a clear, connected view of their wealth without relying on spreadsheets and disconnected systems to piece it together.
